Scent Of The Silence (The Bastion Chronicles Book 1)
About
The world ended while the cat was napping. Now survival depends on claws, instinct, and one broken human.
When the apocalypse reduces civilization to rot and ruin, Bastion faces an impossible task: keep his human alive in a world overrun by shambling undead. But she has collapsed into despair, barely functional, and the creatures he calls the Wrong-Smelling Ones are closing in. In this new reality, the ancient contract between cat and human becomes the only thing standing between survival and extinction.
Their sanctuary falls and the city transforms into a hunting ground where rooftops are highways and the ground is death. Feral cat armies herd the undead like livestock, using bells and scent barriers to control the chaos. Bastion must guide his clumsy, half-blind human through this nightmare, calculating every move as predator, protector, and reluctant savior.
As they fight toward a distant radio signal promising refuge, the journey demands everything: blood, trust, and a reckoning with what it means to belong to another soul. A tyrant cat king controls the bridges with meat walls of undead, and the final crossing will cost them both more than they have left to give. But the bond between cat and human was forged in warmth and need, and even the apocalypse cannot sever what evolution made sacred.
Can one determined housecat and his fractured human defy the odds when the world has gone feral?

Praise for this book
I didn't know what to expect from this story, but it was a genuine pleasure to read.
Bastion leads his human thru the ruins of a zombie filled world where danger lurks at every turn. He leads her thru the dangers of his own world, that being the thoughts and ideas of a cat. His world is viewed entirely differently than hers. He sees the world thru calculations and exchanges. Sarah, his human, is a negotiation to be dealt with and herded thru his (and hers) many dangers and pitfalls. There is a King cat who leads a dangerous clan that he must conquer and defeat. And in the distance is a place where there is light, safety, and food. Will they make it? Will Bastion kead himself and his human to safety and food? Read this story! It's fantastic!
As a fan of cats (I have 3) and post apocalyptic fiction (especially zombie related) I had to give this book a chance and I'm so glad I did! I finished it in one sitting and I desperately want more. I really hope there will be more books.
